Gender Bender

What exactly is Gender-Bender? The term is relatively recent, informal and unknown to the general public. It is a person who violates or "bends" expected gender roles, i.e. challenges stereotypical gender roles. But it is also an artistic device: changing the canon gender of a character. It's a genre that focuses on a guy or girl who hides his or her gender identity. The guy, for one reason or another, pretends to be a girl or vice versa.
